Iceland Trip

7 Day Iceland Itineraries

One week is the most popular Iceland trip length, and for good reason: it is enough for the Golden Circle, the full South Coast to the Glacier Lagoon and a day or two of Reykjavík or Snæfellsnes, at a pace that leaves time for a glacier hike, an ice cave or a long soak.

These week-long plans were built by real travelers and picked by our editors for smart routing and realistic days. Compare routes for couples, friends and families, then duplicate the one you like and adjust it to your dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is 7 days enough for Iceland?

Seven days is enough for the south and west at a comfortable pace: Golden Circle, South Coast, Jökulsárlón and Reykjavík, or Snæfellsnes instead of the far southeast. A full Ring Road loop in a week is doable but means 4–6 hour driving days.

Can you do the Ring Road in 7 days?

You can, but it is tight. The loop is about 1,320 km of driving before detours, so you would average around 200 km a day and skip many stops. In summer it is manageable for confident drivers; in winter, short daylight and weather make it risky.

What is the best one week Iceland route for first-timers?

Golden Circle, then east along the South Coast with nights in Vík and near Skaftafell or Höfn, back west with a final night in Reykjavík. It covers the waterfalls, black-sand beaches, glaciers and the Glacier Lagoon with mostly short drives.
